Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea’s Raging Dilemma?

As the referee blew the final whistle yesterday, to a 1-1 draw By Chelsea versus Modest Brighton in the Premier League, I couldn’t help but fear for Chelsea’s Manager, Thomas Tuchels’ future.

You might rightfully disagree, taking into account the fact that he was voted just some hours ago, FIFA’s Best coach of the year 2021, thanks to his exceptional European Champions league winning Run, 7 months ago!

Chelsea is arguably one of the most popular premier league teams worldwide. Mostly thanks to the enormous financial strength of its extraordinary owner Roman Abrahamovic and its fanatical fanbase.

Chelsea is, 3 Times European Champions league winners, several times English Premier League Champions, boasts some of the best players in the league, etc. but today, they are, though third on the league table, 12 points away from league leaders Manchester City with a game more in hand.

In other words, they are probably days away from being 15 points behind Man. City! The title hopes for the season look dead to me.

This belief is further compounded when one notes that Chelsea has failed to win a league encounter in their last 4 matches…. It could get worse soonest.

Chelsea Legend and son of the soil, Frank Lampard, exactly at this point last year, was sacked for Tuchel, and……? he was just 11 points away from 1st position holders, Manchester City.

Like him or not, Romelu Lukaku is considered by many, to be one of the best worldwide strikers today!

However, unfortunately, We have just lived through a public washing of “underwear” between Thomas Tuchel and Lukaku, with the latter publicly sharing his discontent at the way he was being used by Tuchel.

Off a Club record huge transfer signing of the player, a few months ago from Italian Giants, Inter Milan. The player is rumored to be seeking a return back to the Italian League and to Inter in particular.

Tuchel, unhappy at this public utterance by the player, sent Lukaku out of their eventual next league game versus Liverpool only to come back from a 0-2 deficit to draw 2-2 against Fellow German Coach, Jurgen Klopp.

I totally believe that just like in life, no wise man discusses his marital problems in public, in football, once the coach starts castigating and trying to isolate an influential and “expensive” star player in public, it rarely ends well for the Coach!

Chelsea’s owner is not known for being patient with nonperforming managers but is known for passionately cherishing his players, to the point he goes to every length to make them comfortable.

Roberto di Mateo was sacked a few months after winning the Champions League, Carlo Ancellotti was sacked just shortly after winning the double; Premier League, and FA Cup. The special one Jose Mourinho was sacked twice shortly after landmark achievements… the list goes on.

In football no matter how great a coach/manager you might be, your success and longevity are dependent on your players, since you don’t physically play, you are judged by your results and in some countries like Spain, Results without beautiful play are just not enough either.

I feel Tuchel, from the moment the final whistle yesterday versus Brighton was blown, should be very worried for his future!
